Gloria Da Silva is a narrative figure painter and artist based in London. With a BA in Art & Psychology from the University of Reading, her practice centers around the question, “What is rest and who can experience it?” Inspired by Angolan poetry and her lived experience as a Black woman, Gloria explores themes of identity, heritage, and the gaze. Her work often features communal scenes, particularly the act of hairdressing, which she views as an intimate and collective experience. Having exhibited with Dark Yellow Dot for Black History Month 2022 and at Kapsule Events’ Kanvases and Kocktails, she uses her art to celebrate the diversity of Black hair and foster a deeper connection with self-love and cultural pride.
