The Application Developer Textile Engineer drives product use cases for staple fiber technology and supports the link between research, manufacturing partners, and market needs. The role centres on practical industry adoption, factory visits, joint work with contract manufacturers, and ongoing improvement of materials for woven, nonwoven, and yarn spinning routes. The position combines technical insight with an understanding of customer drivers and production realities to guide product refinement and commercial readiness.
Who we’re looking for
– 2-5 years industry experience
– Experience with staple fibers, nonwoven production, or yarn forming processes is preferred– Motivated, curious, and excited about developing new materials
– Confident in independent trial design, data interpretation, and technical reporting
– Comfortable working in factories, coordinating with contract manufacturers, and translating production feedback into improvements
– Enjoys solving real-world problems and isn’t afraid to experiment
What you’ll do
– Investigate behavior of keratin based fibers in multiple processing routes, including carding, drawing, spinning, and nonwoven formation.
– Assess fiber performance in woven and knitted structures, develop processing guidelines, and identify ways to improve fabric quality
– Support ingredient or formulation opportunities that allow stronger performance in end use
– Plan factory visits, observe production steps, gather data, and translate findings into clear actions for internal teams
– Build and manage agreements with contract manufacturers, maintain communication, and track progress
– Design structured trials, define evaluation criteria, and document results in a clear format
– Analyse data, identify process weak points, and propose improvements that align with commercial goals
– Coordinate with external experts and partners to accelerate development work
– Identify new opportunities for fiber or material development, assess practical feasibility, and propose next steps backed by data
– Continuous planning, prioritizing and implementing textile solutions for customers, in close cooperation with both Operational Lead, and the business development team.
– Maintain contacts with equipment suppliers in order to ensure the development of new equipment or the adaptation of existing equipment for the production and testing of new applications.
– Responsible as the role of a technical account contact person for new research materials to applied in new developments and to ensure the testing and implementation of it. And being responsible for the approval process of suppliers and ingredients in new materials for use in adjacent products.
