We Received K2C Funding for ādara® Felt

Human Material Loop has received funding through the Key 2 Circularity programme to further develop ādara® felt and move the material closer to industrial application.

The programme is part of Interreg Meuse Rhine and is cofunded by the European Union. It supports SMEs in the region developing circular products, materials and production systems. Human Material Loop received a positive assessment for the ādara® felt project across circularity, technical feasibility, environmental impact, economic feasibility, team capacity and social impact.

The project focuses on the continued development of ādara® felt, made using our keratin fibres derived from human hair waste.

Felt is an important first commercial application for ādara®. Its relatively short production process allows us to move from fibre to finished material with fewer manufacturing steps, while creating opportunities across interiors, acoustics, furniture and architectural applications.

The project will support the next stage of development as we work towards consistent production, performance and commercial adoption.

The Meuse Rhine region plays an important role in this development. From our base in Sittard, we are positioned between the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, with access to textile manufacturing, chemistry, materials expertise and industrial production.

The Key 2 Circularity programme supports companies within this cross border region, connecting the knowledge and manufacturing capabilities needed to bring circular material technologies into industry. Human Material Loop was recognised as an eligible SME based in the Meuse Rhine region.

For Human Material Loop, the funding supports a clear next step: taking ādara® felt from material development towards a reliable, scalable product for industrial use.
