Oil Spill Cleanups: A Temporary Remedy

During the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010, nylon stockings stuffed with donated hair were used to help soak up the oil. They do not recommend the use of fiber materials like hair for oil spill cleanups when other, more effective options are available.
