Elvis Presley’s Hair Sells at Auction

A clump of hair, believed to have been trimmed from Elvis Presley’s head when he joined the Army in 1958, has been sold for $15,000 at a Chicago auction house. The buyer, who secured the rare piece of memorabilia, paid $15,000, along with an additional $3,300 in auction house fees. The collection, which included several items of personal significance, was originally owned by the late Gary Pepper, who ran Elvis Presley’s fan club and was a close personal friend of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Pepper passed away in 1980, leaving his extensive collection of memorabilia to his nurse, who later put it up for auction.
