Jennifer Blackburn is a Los Angeles-based artist and mother whose work explores the inner child and the healing of trauma. Her piece called the Generational Curl Pattern, is an homage to her mother, symbolizing the bond between generations. Featuring three seats representing Grandmother, Mother, and Child, the artwork serves as a space to continue the tradition of sitting below while having one’s hair braided. Through the use of ceramic, synthetic hair, and recycled silk, Blackburn weaves together themes of memory, connection, and ancestral practices, emphasizing the significance of shared rituals in familial relationships.
