Miranda Vazquez Rodriguez

Miranda Vazquez Rodriguez, a visual artist and advocate of the Crayola punk rock movement, was born in 1997. She holds a Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua and is pursuing a Visual Arts graduate degree at the University of Nuevo León. She won third place in the CREATECOP27 competition, organized by UNESCO and Art Partner. She also participated in the International Video Performance Festival Dislocada in 2024 and attended the Mark Bradford residency with Hauser & Wirth in 2023. Miranda received an honorable mention at the Baja California Biennial and exhibited in the first Northwest Art Fair “Todos Ponen”. Her solo exhibitions include “Vestigios Fronterizos” (Planta Libre, 2021) and “Cosechas lo que siembras” (State Arts Center, 2022). Miranda explores everyday life through familiar materials. In her hair-themed works, she braids pubic and armpit hair to challenge gender norms. Some of her pictorial works also incorporate hair, expanding on identity and body autonomy.
