Yura Bylkov

Yuri Bykov, born in Leningrad, is a Russian émigré now based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A versatile jeweler and artist, he works with ceramics, graphics, and 3D graphics, emphasizing the behavior, possibilities, and limitations of materials. “Materials resemble people,” he notes. “Some need a special approach, while others create new connections.” His works are showcased in prestigious museums, including the State Hermitage Museum and the Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, as well as private collections. Bykov is also the author of “How 20 Jewelry Pieces by Yuri Bykov Are Made”. Inspired by traditional hair decorations seen at Saint Petersburg’s Ethnographic Museum, he reimagined the material’s use in contemporary art. After receiving synthetic hair from a hairstylist friend, he explored its potential, creating lightweight, dynamic, and vibrant pieces that highlight its expressive qualities.
