Since the late 1980s and the early days of Maison Margiela, the reinvention of found garments, deconstructed and then reconstructed, has been central to one of the most influential aesthetics in fashion. Even a seemingly simple look from the Spring Summer 2016 collection reflects layers of historical references and deep knowledge of the past, inviting its own deconstruction. The third exit from this collection marked the early stages of a presentation that began with stripped back simplicity and gradually built toward an increasingly elaborate and ornamental climax.
