Anna Banout

Anna Banout is a Syrian-Polish experimental designer and artist, known for her research-based works that combine design processes with cultural narratives. Her background influences her exploration of the relationships between people and objects, using design as a tool for storytelling. Banout’s work has gained international recognition, including a first-place win for her master’s project, “SYRIA 2087,” at Designblok in Prague in 2017. She also held her first solo museum exhibition in 2020, titled “Fossils of the Future” at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg. Her works have been featured globally, from the Centre Pompidou in Paris to Station Gallery in Beirut, and at renowned design festivals like Gdynia Design Days and Maison&Objet Paris. She holds an MA in product design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, with additional postgraduate studies in creative coding and basketry. One of her notable works, the “Parian” jewelry collection, combines the fragile beauty of parian porcelain with artificial hair and steel elements, creating minimalist, sculptural pieces that challenge the material’s limits while exploring the contrast between rigidity and fluidity.
