Esther Khuabi is a 21-year-old fashion student at KASK in Ghent, with a deep-rooted passion for fashion as a tool for emotional and cultural expression. Drawing inspiration from her Congolese heritage, she incorporates vibrant colors and diverse cultural influences into her designs, which reflect her identity and vision. In addition to her studies, Esther designs outfits for her sister Grace’s concerts and actively engages with her audience on TikTok, where she shares her fashion and creative process. She aspires to establish her own brand in the future. Her notable collection, “Don’t Touch My Hair,” explores the cultural and historical significance of hair braiding within the African community. The collection honors braids as a form of communication and a symbol of identity, while also reflecting Esther’s personal connection to the tradition.
