Hiva Alizadeh

Hiva Alizadeh is a visual artist who creates intricate woven tapestries using synthetic hair extensions. His work is inspired by the ancient Persian tradition of carpet weaving, particularly the Kerman carpets, yet Alizadeh applies these traditional techniques to modern materials. His woven artworks feature vibrant neon color palettes, using strands of multicolored synthetic hair to “paint” dynamic chromatic landscapes. These landscapes reflect both the global era and the nomadic culture intrinsic to Iranian carpets. Alizadeh’s pieces are influenced by the textures and designs found in Iranian architecture, tiles, sounds, and the rich cultural heritage of Eastern mosques. His work explores the interconnection between Eastern and Western cultural influences, adding a contemporary, cosmopolitan touch to his interpretations of tradition.
