Katharina Spitz is a designer based in Amsterdam, trained in couture tailoring. Her work focuses on social issues like pollution, inequality, and misogyny, often from a feminist perspective. After starting her career in 2013 in Düsseldorf and working at the Dutch National Opera, she graduated from Universität der Künste in Berlin in 2021 and began working independently. Spitz experiments with unconventional materials, including ceramics and human hair. Her project “Another myth of eternal sameness” used hair to explore themes like uniformity and societal expectations. She is drawn to how hair challenges ideas of value and status, creating tension between attraction and discomfort. Spitz’s work has been shown at venues like the Bundeskunsthalle, Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe, and Fashionclash Festival. Her process emphasizes collaboration, spontaneity, and precision.
