Lola Loup

Lola Loup is an artist and textile and materials designer, based in Paris. A graduate of the Duperré School, she is now conducting research on the materials she uses and their artistic and design applications at a laboratory affiliated with the École des Arts Décoratifs. Her work begins with collecting organic materials often regarded as waste, particularly hair and fish skin. She explores their connection to the life they once inhabited and their ties to the territories from which they were sourced. Using techniques such as sewing, tapestry, and flocking, she transforms these materials into new forms. She weaves long strands of hair like yarn and grinds shorter ones into powder, experimenting with coloring and bleaching to expand their aesthetic possibilities. Her creations form Green Island, a foldable, mobile installation where natural and domestic spaces merge, featuring powdered hair rugs and ornaments woven from hair and silk threads, preserving traces of human presence.
