Rahel Ruppen

Rahel Ruppen is a conceptual artist based in Luzern, Switzerland. After completing her Bachelor in Fine Arts and Art Education, she now works independently as both an artist and a tattoo artist. She is also involved in art education, working with people who have disabilities. Rahel’s art explores the bodies of human and non-human animals, questioning how we treat and differentiate between them. Using human hair, text, and textiles, she incorporates irony and provocation to challenge societal norms, such as those related to gender and the exploitation of livestock. Intrigued by human hair as a material, she creates objects that give new purpose to what is typically seen as waste. Her work “Fur Bodies” explores our relationship with animals, while “Growing Apart” delves into the emotions of break-ups, using hair as a metaphor for the emotional disconnect we experience.
