Ivi Pivetta Viero is a 32-year-old product designer and PhD researcher in design with a deep fascination for human hair. Inspired by Victorian mourning jewelry, which often incorporated intricate hairwork, she creates contemporary jewelry pieces using this unique material. Expanding her exploration beyond adornment, Ivi is currently developing an innovative composite material as part of her PhD research. This material features a biodegradable matrix reinforced with human hair, offering a sustainable alternative in material design. Her work bridges history and innovation, challenging perceptions of hair while exploring its potential as both a meaningful and functional design element.
