Celine Arnould is a Zurich-based artist who explores the interplay between human hair and porcelain in her ceramic work. Through continuous experimentation, she merges these materials to create objects that highlight technique, craftsmanship, and materiality. With a background in hairdressing and a design degree from Zurich University of the Arts, hair has remained central to her artistic practice, symbolizing identity and transformation. Collected from salons, the hair is dipped in porcelain and burns away during firing, leaving delicate imprints and intricate textures. The resulting structures, whether meticulously arranged or organically felted, evoke a sense of fragility and transience. Embracing chance in her process, Arnould’s work captures fleeting moments, revealing the material’s vulnerabilities and poetic imperfections.
